These are annual events that support the mission of Back Country Horsemen by building positive Chapter and community relationships. The public is welcome at most of these events, and may join MVBCH at any one of them.
TACK CONSIGNMENT SALE: The second annual Mesa Verde Back Country Horsemen's Tack Sale was just completed to great reviews. This event is a fundraiser for MVBCH and a much needed and welcome community service held at the Montezuma County Fair Grounds. Thanks to all those that participated in the event: consignors, vendors, buyers, volunteers, organizers, and guests.
We are looking forward to hosting the third annual consignment tack sale to be held June 1st -2nd, 2018. Mark these dates and we will see you there. Please check back in the first quarter of next year for more information.
POKER RIDE: The 2017 Annual Poker Ride was fantastic. The weather was idea, the trail was in great shape, and the views and guest were awesome. We want to thank all participants and volunteers that made it a great event.
The date for the next Poker Ride is May 5th, 2018. The ride will be along a well marked trail with great views. The riders will encounter manned stations ever so often where they will collect a card for their poker hand and then ride on to the next station on their way back to the trailhead. There are prizes for the top poker hands presented at the trailhead after the ride has concluded.
DUTCH OVEN COOKOUT: Please check back often for updates for the 2018 Dutch Oven Cookout. It is usually on a Saturday in August. There will be Dutch Oven dishes and lots of sides and desserts, graciously contributed by attending members along with great camaraderie. Many members make a weekend of it by camping out and doing day rides. It is a wonderful time and happens every year. Please check back often for updates as the planning progresses.
FALL COLOR RIDE AND POTLUCK: It is now on for Sunday, October 8th at the Corrals at Transfer Park above Mancos, Colorado. This event is held in the fall when colors are at their peak. Riders will ride out at 10am. For more information and directions contact Ted at email@example.com, 970-565-7739.
Please check back often for updates as the 2018 planning progresses.
Sometimes riders go out in small groups on various trails then meet back at the trailhead. Other times, we all ride together. Then it's visiting around the campfire and sharing a delicious potluck lunch or dinner. Participants are also welcome to camp for the weekend. Members only, but you may join at this time.
THANKMAS PARTY: Our holiday potluck and gift exchange is scheduled for Wednesday, December 6, 2017. We have a great time visiting, swapping yarns, exchanging interesting gifts, and devouring tasty treats. A really festive family affair, this is a great chance to get better acquainted with Chapter members and their families! Check back for updates in planning and we will see you in December.
